The NFL HSPD camp will feature top players from the Metro Detroit area Wednesday-Saturday under the lights from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at East English Village Preparatory Academy.

East English Village Preparatory Academy will feature top talent from the Metro Detroit area this week, as it will play host to the NFL High School Player Development camp under lights from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

The camp will feature some of the top prospects from around the area, including Southlake 2015 OT Kyonta Stallworth, Southlake 2016 RB Martell Pettaway, Southlake 2014 LB Jalen Dingle, Detroit Cass Tech 2014 CB Damon Webb, Farmington 2014 CB Curtis Brunson, Detroit Southwestern 2015 RB Romello Ross, Southfield 2014 QB Jalen Brady, Southfield 2014 WR Jordan Billingslea, East English 2015 QB Anton Curtis, East English 2016 RB Malik Lewis and Detroit King 2014 CB Jalen Embry.

Also, some rising 2017 prospects will be in attendance, including Kalon Gervin and Josh Ross, who is the younger brother of Michigan sophomore linebacker, James Ross.

While the event will take place over four days, Wednesday figures to be the biggest day of the four day event.

According to the NFLHSPD.com : “The NFL High School Player Development program addresses challenges facing high school football programs across the country focusing primarily on underserved communities. HSPD serves as a free resource for both high school player and coaches. The program emphasizes safety and concussion awareness, character development and life skills, and football fundamentals.”

The camp is open to the public and there are still open slots remaining. The camp is free to coaches and players. The camp features five sessions. The first session focuses on concussion awareness, NCAA guidelines and time management in four other life skill areas. The remaining four sessions will focus on offensive and defensive fundamentals taught by camp instructors. Also, the camp will feature 7-on-7, position training and 1-on-1 competition.

THE NFL HSPD is a national high school program made possible thru the sponsorship of the National Guard that is free to underserved high school students in the Metro Detroit Area.

“As the NFL HSPD site manager I am proud to provide an opportunity for Detroit youth to compete at the first and only camp to be held in the city,” said site manager, Curtis Blackwell. “This is the seventh consecutive year that the NFL has been here. We look forward to continue developing the top talent in Detroit while also showcasing future college student-athletes who will learn from the best coaches in Michigan during this four-day camp.”
