In-State Offer for Lassiter

Portage Central (Mich.) class of 2014 prospect Hunter Lassitter, a 6'4, 255-lb tight end who may project to the offensive line, has landed his first offer of the process.

Central Michigan has emphasized in-state recruiting under Dan Enos, and the Chippewas have gotten started in the 2014 class, offering some of the state's top juniors. One of them is Portage Central's Hunter Lassitter. CMU was the first school to offer him and he was honored to receive the opportunity.

"It was just awesome knowing that college is being paid for and I can go play at a D1 school. It's great getting the opportunity to play football, something I love to do, in college."

At 6'4, 255-lbs, Lassitter is a tight end for the Mustangs, but his size and athleticism project well to other positions.

"I'm pretty sure I'll be on the offensive line," he explained, "which is fine, I'll play whatever. Yeah, I like to play tight end, but I know realistically, at the D1 level, I'll be on the offensive line at either tackle or guard."

Future position was just one part of the conversation he had in Mount Pleasant when he visited the Chippewas.

"I went to junior day and that was about it and then I was going to give the coach a call in a couple days to see what they want to do. I liked everything about [the school]. I like the stadium, the weight room, and the coaches seem nice and cool."

Currently, Lassitter says he has received a little bit of mail from Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin, but the most interested program, other than Central Michigan, is one of their MAC rivals.

"I went to Toledo junior day too. They gave me the most interest out of any school that I've talked to. I expected to be offered from them, I no idea I was going to get one from CMU, that was a big surprise, but Toledo, their area coach seemed real impressed with me, the position coach seemed impressed, and hopefully I'll get the same interest from their head coach and we'll see where that leads."
