'15 SG Chandler White talks Michigan visit
White, a 6-2, 180-pound physical defender and scorer, struggled with the added attention as scouting reports began to center around shutting him down.
"At the beginning of the season I was doing really good, but then towards Christmas break I got off a little bit," White told GoBlueWolverine. "And now I'm back on."
Prior to White's loss in sectionals, he, his sister and cousin made the trip to Ann Arbor for Michigan's game Sunday against Illinois. While White was looking to see a great game, the renovations to Crisler Center, and interact with the coaching staff -- his companions had another idea.
"They just wanted to go to see Trey Burke," said White laughing. "But I think they liked it a lot."
Making a pit stop on the way to pick up some Michigan gear because his sister and cousin didn't have any, White paid close attention to the Wolverines play, liking what he saw.
"The game overall, it was really nice watching Trey Burke and all of those guys get out on the fast break," said White. "I really liked that. They all get along with their coaches and if something goes bad they all regroup. They find out what's going bad and fix it."
Crisler Center, still in relatively bad shape the last time White was in Ann Arbor, was fixed as well. According to White, the upgrades impressed him.
"It was really different from last year, walking into the arena, seeing all of the new stuff they had," said White. "Inside the arena, where the court is and everything, it was nice to see how they did the seats and have the boxes and stuff."
After the win over Illinois, Michigan assistant Bacari Alexander took White and the other recruits on a little tour of the new Crisler Center, including taking a peek at coach Beilein during his post game press conference. Though White and the coaches didn't get too much time to discuss any particulars, the experience was well worth it.
"It was nice talking to the coaches and catching up with each other and see how each others doing," he said.
