Turner picks up interest

A.J. Turner

A.J. Turner is putting up big numbers during his junior season and college coaches have taken notice.

A.J. Turner's successful junior season is starting to result in new college interest.

According to his travel team coach Paul Carmona, Turner, a 6-foot-6 guard out of Warren (Mich.) De La Salle, has picked up 14 scholarship offers, including a recent one from Iowa State.

The local schools – Michigan and Michigan State – are both ramping up their interest in Turner.

"Beilein came to another game this past week and is currently setting up an unofficial visit with the Turner family," Carmona told Scout.com. "A.J. visited there for the first time two weeks ago and took in a game versus Northwestern. Beilein says he wants AJ up for a campus tour and a more personal visit."

"Michigan State also has been very active and came to another game last week as well," Carmona said.

Turner was on an unofficial visit to Michigan State on Tuesday for their game against Michigan.

According to Carmona there are a few other high major schools starting to show interest.

"Syracuse, Georgetown, and Providence have also got involved and all three are expected up this week," he said. "They have all had a handful of conversations with the Turner family."

Xavier is also involved with Turner.

"Coach Travis Steele has been recruiting A.J. and just loves him," Carmona said. "A visit is in the works."

Turner is averaging 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds a game.
