'14 Jersey wideout Brown talks Michigan

Sparta (N.J.) Pope XXIII High junior wide receiver Noah Brown is hearing some positive interest from the Michigan coaching staff. GBW caught up with Brown, and he talked about a possible Michigan offer, how far a Wolverine offer would go into his recruitment, other schools showing interest, a decision timetable, and more.

Sparta (N.J.) Pope XXIII High junior wide receiver Noah Brown had an in-school visit last week from Michigan secondary coach Curt Mallory and received some positive news regarding his recruitment.

"It went really well. Coach (Curt) Mallory came in and told (my coaches) Michigan was very interested in me," Brown told GoBlueWolverine. "That I was one of their top prospects. And that they're looking forward to recruiting me heavily coming up."

Brown added, "I definitely plan on getting up there sometime. When they came to visit me, coach Mallory said I should expect an offer coming my way around or sometime after signing day."

What would a Wolverine offer mean to Brown's recruitment?

"It will definitely play a big factor (if offered)," Brown said on a possible Michigan offer. "Anytime a big school like that offers you; you have to take it into consideration. So I am definitely looking forward to that."

At 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, Brown played running back, safety, and wide receiver last season for Pope XXIII. He says Michigan is recruiting him as an athlete and is open to playing whatever position gets him on the field at the next level.

"I am definitely open to going to school like Michigan," Brown said. "The location isn't really a factor for me. It's not too far. It's big time football and a great school. They are definitely a great school. They got great football tradition. I was at the Ohio State game (in Columbus) when they played the (Buckeyes). I was pretty impressed with their offense and how they run things."

Currently, Brown has offers from Boston College, Rutgers, Temple, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. He is also getting serious attention from Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Duke, and Stanford.

When Brown starts to make his college rounds, he says he will be looking for particular areas of interests on his visits.

"Their academics," he said. "Their graduation rate, it is a good school for athletes. And just that they're a winning program."

As far as a decision timeline, brown says there is plenty traveling to do before he makes his final college choice.

"It's up in the air," he said. "I want to make as many visits as I can before I make a decision. Probably be some time next year."
