"It feels real good," Damon Webb said of his commitment to Ohio State.
After a weekend trip to Columbus, the 6'0, 175-lb cornerback felt he had seen enough to choose the Buckeyes over offers from Michigan, LSU, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, and others.
"Coming into this visit, I wanted to look at a lot of aspects of the university starting off with education. They have a good sports industry program with a lot of majors, and my parents and I felt it was a good program. Then there is the overall winning aspect. I feel like I can win here, and get a good education."
Webb says the Buckeyes also made him feel wanted, and he felt very comfortable with the men who will be coaching him throughout his career.
"Coach Coombs came to visit me at Cass every month. I felt he was very high on me. All the words he said to me were sincere and Coach Meyer made me feel at home. When I was at the visit, I went over what Coach Coombs sees me at, and I think I can definitely play right away."
While it wasn't a deciding factor, getting to see a big game basketball atmosphere and win for the Buckeye hoops squad over Michigan today topped off the visit perfectly.
"The atmosphere was real live. It was one of the hypest basketball games I've ever been to."
Now that recruiting is over, Webb says he can focus on school, his senior year and improving his game.
Of course, with over a year between now and Signing Day 2014, Buckeye fans may wonder if other schools will try to steal him away. However, the newest member of the Ohio State class put it very simply.
