Byrne Visits Ohio State

St. Ignatius (OH) offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne currently has two favorite offers. After attending Ohio State's game against Michigan, check out where the Buckeyes stand against Notre Dame.

6-foot-4, 285 pound offensive tackle Jimmy Byrne made the trip to Columbus to watch the Buckeyes take on the Wolverines and had a great time.

"The game was good. It was a great atmosphere and a great win. The offensive line looked good. I got to talk with most of the coaches. Coach Warinner said he'd be at my school within the next couple of weeks to see me."

This was the junior's second visit to Ohio State this year and says that he couldn't get over the fan support.

"I was at the spring game earlier in the year, but being Ohio State and Michigan, there was a lot more emotion, and it was noticeable. Atmosphere was pretty crazy. I think that really stood out."

The OT admits that while attending the game was fun, it was the things behind the scene that made the visit great.

"I grew up in Ohio. I've seen a lot of Ohio State vs. Michigan games, so I wouldn't say the game itself did all that much to affect how I feel about the school, but it was good to talk to the coaches and just see how they interact with the players. There are things I like about Ohio State as well as Notre Dame, so it'll be a tough decision."

Byrne says that one school does have the lead for him.

"Notre Dame is on top. I really like their O-Line coach. I think we're on the same page about a lot of things. Also, the academics are something important to me and Notre Dame's reputation is pretty strong."

The junior says that he plans on committing before February. What would the Buckeyes have to do to take the lead?

"I'm not quite sure. I'm just going to stay in contact with Coach Warinner and Ohio State and see what they have to say."

As for the future, Byrne hopes to visit both of his top schools again.

"I still have to get things worked out, but I'll be at one of Notre Dame's bowl practices probably after Christmas. May make another trip to Ohio State, not sure about that yet."
