After practice on Wednesday, I was able to talk with Cincinnati junior offensive lineman Sam Longo on UC's solid start and the rest of the 2012 season.

Q: What was the mood around the team after the first loss?

A: "It wasn't a good one. I just think emotionally we were drained. It's not that things weren't going right for us, it was just us not executing the way we were supposed to. Coach Jones always says there are four plays that can win or lose you the game and we just didn't win those plays."

Q: Is it harder to swallow a loss when there may have been some questionable calls by the referees?

A: "No, not really. I mean, those plays affect the game, but they're not going to win the game. It's unfortunate but that's football."

Q: Is it difficult having back to back rivalry games?

A: "In a way, but it's not a bad thing. It's fun to play in games that mean something The work we put in is what we're going to get out."

Q: What do you guys need to do to achieve your goal of winning a Big East championship?

A: "The Big East starts now, we have to stay locked in for these games, get back on the grind and just get the job done."
