'15 DT Anthony Herbert a runstuffer (w/video)

GBW checked out a rising sophomore in the state of Michigan recently in 2015 OL/DL Anthony Herbert of Lapeer East (MI) High School. Herbert chats about his recruitment, his summer, and the season so far.

At 6'4 and 285 pounds as just a sophomore, Lapeer East (MI) High School offensive and defensive tackle Anthony Herbert is a behemoth of a young man. Defensively, Herbert draws double and sometimes even triple teams from opposing offensive lines, but he isn't worried about the extra attention.

"It's my job," Herbert told GoBlueWolverine.

Usually pulling double duty for Lapeer East, Herbert has run into some trouble on offense with the consistency of flying yellow flags that's led his coach to primarily keep him on the D-side of the ball this season.

"I'm mostly playing defense," said Herbert. "I was playing left tackle the first couple games, but I had another 'bad call' (a bad penalty on him) so I started playing defense a little bit more. Its my strong suit."

Size and strength can both be considered reasons why Herbert is an emerging priority in the state of Michigan for the 2015 class.

Herbert hit the camp circuit throughout the spring and summer to improve his game via competition and one on one coaching. The result of the added exposure has Big Ten schools such as Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa calling with plenty of interest.

"I thought I did pretty good," said Herbert of his camp experiences. "Then I went to another camp in April, and I went offense there and thought I did pretty good. Then I went to Wayne State over the summer, to their evaluation camp."

While play on the field will always be a key factor as college coaches continue to look for and evaluate talent, Herbert will be focused on one very key element off the field as he gets to know his early list of schools.

"Probably to get the best education," said Herbert.
