Dukes Productive In Loss (Video Highlights)

'13 Michigan wide receiver commitment Jaron Dukes and Marion Franklin fell to Pickerington Central 45-24 Friday night. Dukes showed nice ball skills, solid hands and the ability to break tackles in a deflating loss.

Scouting report:

This was my first time seeing Michigan wide receiver commitment Jaron Dukes live. Very impressed with his physical tools. Everyone knows about his size (I'll give him 6'3 at least) but its his attention to detail that really jumps out. Dukes runs hard, crisp routes, specifically come back and curl routes that were very effective all night against a tough Pickerington Central defense. Dukes made a few people miss after the catch on a few occasions Friday night and dragged defenders with him to the ground after picking up an extra couple of yards. It appears Dukes can improve on locating the ball in the air and using proper timing to go up and get it. In the second half Dukes came free on a deep post over the middle and very likely would have run the rest of the way for a long touchdown reception but dropped the ball (too wide open?). Overall Dukes showed adequate quickness on a very slow grass field that had just been rained on causing cleats to stick in the mud.
