FOX Sports Next has some of the best performances in the state of Kentucky from this weekend. Several players put on outstanding performances for their schools in victory and defeat.
D.J. Sherrill – RB – Lone Oak High – Soph. – In a big victory over Hopkinsville, Sherrill rushed the ball 20 times for 233 yards and five touchdowns. This was only Sherrill’s second varsity start.
Deris Cox – RB – Central – Sr. – Yellow Jacket running back Deris Cox had a great game with 25 carries and 216 yards in their big win over Reitz High (In.) Saturday.
Charles Walker – RB – St. Xavier – Jr. – Charles Walker rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries Saturday night. But Walker didn’t play in the second half due to dehydration and cramps.
Drew Barker – QB – Conner – Jr. – Junior quarterback Drew Barker started off his season in style with a 211 yard performance. He completed five passes with two touchdowns. He also rushed for a score and had 62 more yards on the ground.
Nacarius Fant – WR – Bowling Green – Jr. – Wide receiver Nacarius Fant helped his team to a road victory Friday night over Lafayette with five catches and 107 yards and a score.
James Quick – WR – Trinity – Sr. – In Trinity’s tough victory over Montgomery Bell, James Quick caught 10 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns. The two touchdowns were for 77 yards and 78 yards.
LaBront Scott – DE/LB – Murray – Sr. – LaBront Scott had nine tackles and a sack in Murray’s big victory over rival Calloway County. Scott also forced a fumble in the win.
Wade Holtsclaw – RB/DB – John Hardin – Sr. – In only seven carries, Wade Holtsclaw rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns Saturday. Holtsclaw added three catches for 76 yards and two more touchdowns in the win.
Ryan Timmons – WR/RB – Franklin Co – Sr. – Ryan Timmons was dominant for Franklin County scoring four touchdowns. He rushed for two scores (16 yards and 26 yards) and caught two touchdown passes (38 yards and 54 yards).
Blake Bir – QB – Covington Catholic – Sr. – Blake Bir set a single game school record with six touchdown passes Saturday. He was 17 of 25 for 317 yards in just over a half of football. He also set the career touchdown pass mark with 59.
