2015 PG Bakari Evelyn
GBW: How's your game in the EMU showcase?
Evelyn: "It's been pretty good. My shot is kind of in and out. When it is falling it is nice. My teammates are getting open and making me complete plays. We're doing pretty good out here today."
GBW: If you were scout in the stands, how would you describe your game?
Evelyn: " I guess I am aggressive. I like to get to the basket and make plays. I like throwing passes. I am kind of, people say I am flashy. But it is just my game. So I like getting other people involved in the game."
GBW: Is there a particular player you try to emulate your game after?
Evelyn: "Not necessarily, But I try to take a little bit from everybody. Like some moves I'll try to do like Kobe (Bryant). And Brandon Jennings
is one I like to see, and Chris Paul
-- those type of guys."
GBW: So do you see yourself as a pass first point guard?
Evelyn: "We'll definitely! With the talent around (me), and they are scoring. I want to get them the ball in position to score to help our team win."
GBW: You were at the Michigan basketball camp last week. How was your experience at the Michigan basketball camp?
Evelyn: "It was great. Coaches were very caring, open arms, joke around throughout the camp. It was a great experience … I think I did pretty well. I think I should have done better on the drills. As the games came to flow and I got to go up and down, I got more aggressive and I was able to complete some plays and help my team win."
GBW: Were you able to check out Michigan's campus at all? And what are your thoughts about their campus?
Evelyn: "I have been up to the Big House a couple times. So I have seen it, it is nice. It is a beautiful campus. It is one of the great sites to see in Michigan."
GBW: If the Wolverines were to offer you a scholarship, how far would that offer go with you?
Evelyn: "It would mean a lot, you know. They were one of the first schools to take interest in me. I'll definitely hold on to the loyalty part of that. But I would also look for the school that is the best fit for me. The best (school) that plays my style of play, and allows me to enhance my skills."
GBW: What schools are showing you the most interest right now?
Evelyn: "Michigan, Indiana, Wake Forest, Ohio State a little bit."
GBW: Out of those schools is there a favorite?
Evelyn: "No, I'm just keeping it open right now. I'm just seeing what is the best fit and how everything is going to work out. It is something for me and my family to talk about."
GBW: Do you have any planned visits coming up this year?
Evelyn: "Planned visits, none right now. I think Michigan was asking me to come up there again for a couple games or something. Other than that none so far."
GBW: When do you plan on making your final school decision?
Evelyn: "I don't know—if the time is right. It can happen very soon. Or is might happen later down the line depending how I progress as a player. And how I feel a school best fits me."
