Bolingbrook (Ill.) sophomore CB Parrker Westphal picks up his second big offer of the day.
Midwest: Emerging Class of 2014 Prospects
Cornerback | Bolingbrook (Ill.) HS
It doesn't get much better than four offers in one day, and five the span of four. Westphal has offers from West Virginia, Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois and Iowa. Top flight corners in the Midwest can be rare, and ones that are already 6'0, 175-lbs with speed and aggressiveness are even more rare. The offers should continue to roll in and he has a chance to be one of the region's best for next year.
Defensive Tackle | Sun Prairie (Wisc.) HS
This powerful 6'3, 310-lb prospect just added offers from Nebraska and Pittsburgh and it's easy to see why. He's a stout, strong kid who has played two seasons of varsity, but really picked it up as a sophomore. You can bet many more will be getting in on the act once they have a chance to see him this spring and summer. He said he plans to visit both the Cornhuskers and Panthers this fall. He's visited Wisconsin several times and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Badgers also offer soon.
WR | Chicago (Ill.) Marist HS
At 6'5, 200-lbs with great ball skills, Weishar has recently added offers from Notre Dame and Wisconsin. He held existing offers from Northwestern and Illinois. He's not the fastest guy, but he uses his size well and could potentially grow into a tight end. He did well at some camps last summer, and more of the same this year should help his offer list grow.
LB | Plainfield South (Ill.) HS
It doesn't take more than the first few plays of Garrett's highlight tape to see that he has big time ability. He's a heat seeking missile who delivers a lot of big hits and plays with little hesitation. The offers haven't come yet, but schools like Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin have come to see him and he's ready to camp at those schools and more. Having seen him in 7 on 7 and 1 on 1 settings, I know he'll be ready for those and be able to put himself in position to start earning offers.
OT | Monona Grove (Wisc.)
I'm surprised Gault hasn't picked up some offers already to be honest. At 6'7, 275-lbs, he has an excellent frame and he had a good sophomore season which comes across on his tape. Wisconsin has had him up to campus several times and he's right by Madison, so the Badgers will be tough to beat, but Gault also visited Georgia Tech and may visit Nebraska soon. The Cornhuskers have been recruiting Wisconsin hard, so don't be surprised if they turn up the heat on Gault.
QB | Sturgis (Mich.) HS
Now that sophomores are beginning to receive offers, I wouldn't be shocked to see Stewart pick some up. Schools are coming to see him play baseball, so I don't know if he'll be able to throw for them yet, but he does plan to do several camps and 7 on 7s and that could be when the offers begin. Too much size (6'5, 210-lbs) and two years of strong play at the varsity level for him to go without offers for too much longer.
S | Galion (Ohio) HS
Watkins is a great athlete who has played all over the field. His film shows his versatility and open field ability. He could play receiver or defensive back at the next level, and a couple schools have told him they will give him an opportunity at quarterback. We hear a Big Ten school may be close to extending the first offer and Wisconsin, Ohio State and others are also interested.
LB | Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary's
Booker is an aggressive, athletic linebacker who recently added offers from Illinois and Ohio State. He also has ties to the South and may be able to add the SEC to his list soon. Some think he may be Ohio's top prospect for the class of 2014.
LB | Detroit (Mich.) King HS
Fuller is a long, athletic 6'3, 195-lb kid who still has to fill out but looks good on tape. He's a kid who does well when turned loose. He's a good blitzer who can rush the passer and is quick enough to drop into coverage and be effective. Syracuse recently extended the first scholarship offer and he visited Michigan State as well, so the recruiting process is picking up for him. He's one who could add more once schools can see him run around at camps.
LB | Crete-Monee (Ill.) HS
A lot of schools have been coming in and out of the school for some of their 2013 prospects, but Morgan is a great reason for them to come back over the next two years. He's a big kid at 6'3, 220-lbs and he had an excellent sophomore season. He's worked hard this offseason, doing 7 on 7s and improving his coverage ability and there are a host of schools including Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Illinois and more waiting to see him.
