His Recruiting Story
Wormley is a massive multi-sport talent from Toledo. He grew up with an affinity for the maize and blue. That affinity alone, however, did not lock him into being a Wolverine, and he definitely earned every scholarship offer he racked up. From tossing a shot-put, or an offensive lineman, he does it all with authority. Whether it was his size, domination of the Buckeye's Nike Camp, or the 59 tackles and twelve sacks he tallied as a sophomore it had coaches' attention and offers across the country. Chris had offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, and hometown Toledo. Wormley finished of his impressive high-school career with a Ohio semi-final appearance, tallied over 40 tackles, 5 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, and 2 forced fumbles earning him the title of Ohio High-school Defensive Player of the Year.
His Commitment Comments
"The coaches made me feel comfortable, the facilities are great, the recruits that are coming in… (Michigan is on) top of the country for 2012 recruits. It was everything that was up there. The town of Ann Arbor is a great place to live … I think we'll do some big things the next five or six years".
Wormley is simply an imposing hulk of an athlete. He is a consistent good tackler, and is probably a better pass rusher than run-stopper. Already displays college level moves from the rip to the swim, he executes and wreaks havoc in the backfield. One area of concern is that he seems to sometimes play down to the competition. "Tremendous size and ability. Likely a strongside end, but could also play inside. Ideal five-tech. Turned it up another notch in terms of motor and consistent effort as a junior. When we saw him as a sophomore, he just overpowered his opposition. Last year, because I think he saw a few top prospects and, he started to turn up the intensity. He's a naturally massive kid and moves well for that size" – Allen Trieu.
