PG Combine: Lotulelei High on Michigan

South Jordan (UT) junior DT, Lowell Lotulelei measured himself against top competition at the Semper Fidelis Proving Ground combine and turned in a strong performance. GoBlueWolverine caught up with the talented youngster afterward to discuss his showing, his recruitment, his interest in Michigan, and more.

South Jordan (UT) Bingham high junior defensive tackle Lowell Lotulelei was one of the defensive line standouts at the Semper Fidelis All-American bowl Proving Ground combine last week.

Lotulelei used the platform to prove that he’s among the nation's best.

"It was really good to come out here and get some competition," he said. "And get some work in and go against people from other states, and some of the top ranked offensive linemen. It was really good."

"I felt  like some of strengths was my moves.  You know my brother (Utah defensive linemen Star Lotulelei) on the college level has taught me a lot of moves and techniques."

Lotuleiei’s skills have certainly caught Michigan’s attention. The Wolverines’ defensive line coach made it to Bingham high to check up on the talented youngster and later made in clear that the Maize & Blue planned to be a presence in his recruitment.

"They just said they are interested in me,” recalled Lotuleilei.  “(Coach Montgomery) said he was really interested in me coming up to play for Michigan."

"I'm real interested in Michigan," he later added. "Michigan is a top program. It is definitely one of my top choices if they are interested in me."

A native of South Jordan, Utah, Lotulelei said distance is not a factor in his decision.  And as far as commitment towards a school, Lotulelei is in no rush.

"Just whenever it feels right,” he said. “When the right offer comes to me to better my future."
