Video: Pocic Helps Power Lemont to Semis

Than Pocic

Lemont powered its way to the Illinois 6A semifinals, with a dominating win over Chicago Hubbard 29-0. GoBlueWolverine was on hand for the game and came back with highlights star junior OT Ethan Pocic's strong performance.

The Indians (12-0) relied on their stingy defense and running the ball behind four-star junior offensive lineman Ethan Pocic.

“Basically the defense did their and job and put up a goose egg, and the offense took advantage of it… The offensive line did a good job pass protecting, we didn’t give up a sack,” he said.

While Lemont has succeeded on the field, Pocic has been heavily recruited off it. The 6’6 285-LB, rising tackle holds offers from Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Illinois redshirt junior Graham Pocic is the starting Center for Illinois. Despite the family connection with the Illini, Pocic said the recruiting process is wide open.

The Maize & Blue have been in contact with Pocic on a bi-weekly basis. He said he is being recruited by offensive line coach Darrell Funk. As of right now, Michigan is even with the rest of his Big Ten offer list.

“It’s the same as every other Big Ten school,” he said.

Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen said Pocic projects as a tackle at the next level. He said the younger Pocic poses similar size to his brother, but with better footwork.

“He is big and got really good feet for somebody his size,” he said. “I think that is what makes him special. It’s no secret we try to run behind him. I think he does a pretty nice job for us. He does a good job of run blocking mostly, but I think he does a pretty good job pass blocking.”

Pocic bench presses 305-LB and squats 450-LB, and said he is consistently training to get better off the field.

“I have to work on my strength and footwork. We have a class here at school, we run about an hour three times a week and we lift five times a week,” he said. Recommended Stories
