Good Counsel’s 35-21 victory featured plenty of big plays including a game punt return by five star receiver Stefon Diggs. After getting out to 7-0 lead on a Wes Brown three yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Diggs put his touch on the game by making a sharp cut past the first wave of defenders and quickly hitting the seam for a 62 yard punt return.
Wisely, Diggs was never kicked to again. That still didn’t stop Good Counsel’s momentum though, as class of 2013 star Dorian O’Daniel added three touchdown runs in the second half.
For DeMatha, it could have been a different game. They gave Good Counsel great field position after failing to field the opening kick. What should have been a very routine play led to DeMatha having to play from behind for most of the game.
The Stags fought and eventually tied the game at 21-21, but a Dorian O’Daniel 58 yard touchdown run and an interception by Kendall Fuller deep in Good Counsel territory would seal the deal.
