Columbus Bishop Hartley (Ohio) tight end Jacob Matuska talks about his first offers and discusses…
'13 OH TE Matuska takes in U-M/ND, likes both
The Michigan Wolverines have been in contact with the young man and invited him up for the first night game in stadium history.
"It was really exciting especially with the atmosphere and everything. It was fun. "You could see all the recruits were excited for Michigan and especially the back and forth at the end of the game with both team's scoring under a minute and thirty seconds."
The game clearly made an impression on Matuska who admittedly has a bit of a soft spot for the Maize and Blue.
"No school is really out of the question but all my life I've kind of, not really rooted for Michigan but if the offers there, it's going to be there. I'll consider them as an option."
Matuska sat on the Michigan sideline but all he had to do was look across the field to see another school that will be a major contender in his recruitment.
"I mean I'm a big Notre Dame fan but I was cheering for both teams last night, it was just an exciting game to be at. I've liked them since I was younger and I like their tradition. The atmosphere, I'm Catholic so a Catholic school is nice. They've been in contact too and they've invited me to a couple games and I'm probably going to go to one or two of them."
Making the trip to Ann Arbor with Jacob was his teammate and father who couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement as well.
"They got caught up in the game with me and everyone was cheering. It was just crazy because you didn't know what was going to happen."
With two of college football's most storied programs in contact already, it's obvious Matuska will be a hot commodity in the class of 2013. As offers begin coming in Matuska knows exactly what he's looking for in his eventual destination.
"Tradition really and education obviously is a big deal for me because my whole life I've been a better student and I've worked hard for what I've got. The atmosphere of the school, like last night at Michigan how the whole school came and there were 114,000 people there, just cheering. It's a pretty exciting thing to have everyone there cheering for you and everyone together for spirit."
