4-Star WR Darboh Has Final Five

Four-star receiver Amara Darboh of Dowling High (West Des Moines, Iowa) trimmed his offer list to five schools. He is also making plans for official visits. Come inside to see who is on his list, what is happening with visits, and when a decision could be made.

Dowling High (West Des Moines, Iowa) four-star receiver Amara Darboh has one tentative visit scheduled and knows the destination of his other four official visits.

Dowling High coach Tom Wilson the 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver is looking at Michigan, Notre Dame, Iowa, Wisconsin and Florida.

"He's basically narrowed things down to five schools," Wilson said. "The only tentative official visit he has set up is to Michigan on Sept. 3 (vs. Western Michigan). I think he would like to have that later. We are checking our schedule along the schedules of his top five schools."

At the urging of Wilson, Darboh is being methodical about the recruiting process. He was hoping to visit schools in the summer, but a family situation arose and he stopped those plans, so he is now looking at making official visits.

"He's doing what I've instructed him to do because in my conservation with him I don't think there's a clear-cut choice," Wilson said. "I think he has a favorite or two …but I'm not going to divulge them.

"I think he needs to make the best decision for himself. We dont' want to be doing this in another year or have Amara be unhappy with the school he selected."

The trip to Michigan is tentative because of Dowling's schedule. Wilson said Iowa will be the easiest to schedule.

"Notre Dame is more difficult based on our schedule and their schedule," Wilson said. "Florida is halfway across the country, so that is not an easy one.

"I started out with weekends that would work ok for our program if he was gone and put in the schedules (of teams) he is interested in on those particular weekends, and he needs to decide which school he wants to go to and when."

The official visits will allow Darboh to see a program close-up, and give him the chance to learn about the personalities on each team, and Wilson said his standout receiver is finding the whittling down process hard.

"I think the bottom line is he's got some great programs and great coaching staffs and great universities recruiting him," Wilson said. "And he's type of kid that doesn't want to disappoint anyone. He wants to make sure he makes the right choice."

However, just because Darboh is looking at five official visits doesn't mean he will use them all.

"I think the decision could come at any time during an official visit," Wilson said. "He's not going to be one of those kids that picks a hat. When he feels right, I told him to pull the trigger."
