The Toledo tight end talks about the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry in a way only a guy who is from…
Kevin Koger: Fun Stuff
Question: Anything you did exciting this summer?
Kevin Koger: "A couple of us went to Cedar Point, about six or seven guys, had a great time. Actually Ricardo Miller threw up when we got off a ride. That was a lot of fun and we were making fun of him. So definitely Cedar Point with a couple of my teammates."
Question: Do you ever what might have been if you had played defensive end?
Kevin Koger: "No. I have no regrets. I love playing tight end. I love being on the offense. I love the great competition we have with the defense. I couldn't imagine being on the defensive side of the ball. I love playing tight end, I love it."
Question: Are you the biggest tweeter on the team?
Kevin Koger: "Naw, probably not. If I have to give it to anybody I probably don't tweet the most, I would say Troy (Woolfolk), he probably doesn't tweet the most, but he probably has the most substance to his tweets, the most fun tweets."
Question: Will (Toledo) Whitmer win a state title (Ohio) this year?
Kevin Koger: "Oh yeah without a doubt. They made it to the final four last year. They lost to St. Edwards, they lost to a great team. I think they will win a state title. I don't see any reason why they couldn't. They got a lot of good returning players."
Question: Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor?
Kevin Koger: "If I could choose between to I would choose between BTB (Big Ten Burrito on State Street) or Brown Jug. I can't pass that place (BTB) without getting a burrito, so it is definitely quality."
Question: Favorite teammate all time?
Kevin Koger: "That's not even a fair question. I love all my teammates, I can't pick anybody out per se. I love all my teammates just the same."
Question: Something that might surprise people about you, a hidden talent?
Kevin Koger: "We were talking yesterday, yesterday was my first commercial air flight ever in my life. When we fly with the team we fly charter, but yesterday was the first time I had actually get my ticket and check my bags in and find the gate. It was an experience. It was fun."
Question: Not even in recruiting?
I guess you drove to Ann Arbor. Kevin Koger: "Yeah right. First commercial air flight."
Question: Were you terrified?
Kevin Koger: "No it was actually fun. I was looking forward to it because I didn't know what to do. I was like Mike (Martin) what do we do now. We got to look for our gate, check our bags in. It was a lot of fun."
Question: How did you guys get so involved with Twitter?
Kevin Koger: "I think it actually started with Troy Woolfolk. I know he had one a couple of years ago. We kept hearing about it and hearing about it and more guys got it and just one night with my teammates, just make a Twitter page. So I made one just for fun. I didn't think that I would get that involved in it. It actually turned out to be a lot of fun. You find out a lot of good information on there. You connect with a lot of people. It is definitely a good time."
Question: You got a legendary name right now, Koger, not Kroger. How often did you get that and you actually had to put that on your Twitter, just for fun?
Kevin Koger: "It was definitely just for fun. Growing up, a lot of people thought it should have been Kroger. A lot of people call me Kroger. A lot of my teammates call me Krog. I've actually adopted that nickname and I like it a lot. Actually my gamertag on playstation network is Krog86. So I have definitely adopted the nickname. I like it. It is all in fun. If you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be laughing at anybody else anyways."
Question: Is there a reason why you guys have gravitated towards Twitter rather than Facebook or any of that other stuff?
Kevin Koger: "Oh no. Twitter is just another one way to connect. We're still on Facebook. We still have our fun. We keep it clean and keep it professional. We just like to have our fun and it shows the community that hey we do have a personality. We're human and we're not just football players. We have another side to us."
Question: You probably have noticed that around college football some people have gotten in trouble for Twitter, has the athletic department talked to you guys about this stuff?
Kevin Koger: "Compliance, they do a great job of informing us on everything on what to say and what not to say. Not just with Twitter but with everything. Compliance has been great for us over my three previous seasons. They definitely detail what we can say and what we cannot say."
