Michigan had quite a few 2013 basketball prospects on campus over the past few weeks. 4 star Illinois guard Malcolm Hill took time to take an unofficial visit before attending the Michigan Elite camp. He talked with GBW about his visit, where he has the Wolverines on his list and what the coaches have told him about an offer.
Michigan Basketball’s 2013 recruiting class got off to a tremendous start with the instant commitments of
Mark Donnal
and
Austin Hatch
. One prospect looking to take his time and visits is Belleville High School-East shooting guard
Malcolm Hill
who has already made a visit to Ann Arbor.
“I liked the visit, great campus. I like the coaches, I have a good connection with them,” Hill told GBW.
Michigan has already given the Illinois native a preview of what his role would be if he were to don the maize and blue.
“They said I would run the 2 guard, they run a lot of pick and roll and they like a fast pace game, fast breaks and stuff so that’s what I like.”
According to Malcolm, his game compliments Michigan’s style almost perfectly.
“You’ll see me take a lot of mid range jumpers, you’ll see me slash, attack, get to the free throw line and play hard on the defensive end.”
In addition to the visit, Hill competed in the Michigan Elite camp against some of the top talent in the Midwest and according to Malcolm himself it was an enjoyable experience.
“I think I did okay, I could have done better. I like the drills they’ll help you out on the offensive and defensive end, help you out in scoring and they also get the team together.”
Speaking of the Michigan team that lost by 1 in the third round of the NCAA tournament last season, the vibe he get’s from the squad is something that’s made an impression.
“They have good team chemistry and they have good player development skills. They can produce players to go to the league.”
When asked what his time frame is as far as making a decision, the soft-spoken scorer had two words for GBW, “Next Summer.”
Hill did admit to having Michigan in his Top five as of right now with no favorites sticking out, and the junior to be knows’ exactly what he’s looking for in a school.
“School and education is first. How I fit with the team chemistry and what my role will be on the team, and how I get along with the players.”
With two commitments already in the fold and another potentially coming from a point guard this summer, the Wolverines will be patient with the final spot for 2013.
