Elijah Shumate High on Michigan
"I would say South Carolina, Michigan and Rutgers are standing out right now," he told GoBlueWolverine.
With over 30 offers to his name the 6'1, 205 pound defensive back with the 4.5 40 time has plenty of options. Among those schools beginning to stick out for Shumate is a team that is putting a premium on physical play, Michigan.
"Michigan is one of the biggest programs ever. If you play at Michigan, I mean, that's a big accomplishment. They're (the coaching staff) trying to bring the old Michigan Wolverines back."
With the spring evaluation period still underway, Michigan was able to make it to Don Bosco Preparatory School in New Jersey to visit the highly courted young man -- and let him know what position they're look at him for.
"Michigan came by last week. Coach Mallory came to see me. Coach Mallory said they like me, and they want a big, physical corner like me to play in that defense. And that they're going to recruit me hard."
When it comes time for Shumate to make a decision he make's it very clear what factor's will play into his choice.
"I want to be able to play early. It would be pretty cool to win a national championship, but I also want to be able to put myself in the best position to get my degree as well."
Elijah told GoBlueWolverine he has committed to play in the Army All-American Bowl in January.
