Rumors of an imminent commitment to Michigan State by Farmington Hills Harrison star Aaron Burbridge have run rampant over the past few days. Though admittedly a longtime Spartan fan, the four-star wideout insists any talk of a pledge to the Green & White is premature.
"I'm not about to make a decision," Burbridge said firmly. "I went to their spring game and it was cool. I got to see a couple of the players and talked to Dantonio. It was nice. Michigan State is the #1 school, but I've got to weigh my options. "
One of the options he plans to further evaluate is Michigan. He isn't as familiar with the Wolverine staff as he is with their counterpart in East Lansing, but that is something he plans to remedy very soon.
"I'm going to Michigan on Saturday," reported Burbridge. "I'm going with Mario Ojemudia and Devin Funchess. I'm going to find out more about (Michigan). The defensive coordinator came up to the school, Coach Jackson came up to the school, and Brady Hoke just called too. But I haven't talked to (the coaches) enough because I haven't been up there (since the new staff was hired) yet."
Burbridge's curiosity about the Maize & Blue was initially piqued when the Wolverines offered back in February, but his received an even greater boost when his good friend Devin Funchess committed two weeks ago.
"That's my man," Burbridge said of Funchess. "We've talked about (going to the same school) a lot. All three of us (i.e. him, Funchess, and Ojemudia) basically. So he is trying to get me to go there with him. We talked about rooming together and all that, but I still got to do what is best for me. He knows it is my decision. He is being cool about it."
As it turns out, Funchess isn't the only Michigan commitment that Burbridge expects to court him on the Wolverines' behalf. Orchard Lake St. Mary's linebacker James Ross will very likely lend his voice to the cause as well.
"I know James," stated Burbridge. "That's my man. I went to middle school with him. I was talking to him the other week and I asked him (about recruiting) and he said he had no idea where he was going. (His commitment) was a shock to me."
The Harrison star maintains that he won't be following suit anytime soon. There are a few suitors aside from the Spartans and Wolverines that is especially interested in taking a look at.
"Alabama came to the school, so I'm talking to them," he said. "Ohio State… they offered me. That is about it as far as the schools that I'm really talking to. I'm not sure when I'll take anymore visits. I have not made no plans to go anywhere else yet."
