Donovan Roberts talks Michigan

Running back Donovan Roberts out of Norman, Oklahoma has a few offers at this time with more on the way. He talks to GBW about his Michigan offer and what the Wolverines see in him.

Michigan recently offered Donovan Roberts, and already he is 'feeling' what the Maize and Blue has to offer him.

"When I start putting the list together for top schools, Michigan will be one of my top schools I am looking at. Michigan has an honest staff -- honest about what they are trying to accomplish."

As of right now the Big 12 is showing a lot of interest in him, but the Wolverines have moved past the interest stage and right into the "we want you" stage.

"I had a chance to speak with Coach Hoke, and he talked about the opportunities that are at Michigan for me. Coach Hoke told me they need a durable back to play for them. I also liked how straight forward he was with me -- they want me up there and I have a lot of appreciation for that."

He is also developing a relationship with another coach on the staff, and they are talking and staying in touch.

"Coach Fred Jackson. I just recently spoke with him and we exchanged words. We talked about staying in touch, and about football. Coach is looking for a strong running back and I feel like I am a workhorse type of running back. This year I had a game where I carried the ball 52 times and had over 200 yards in 5 overtimes, so I feel like as the game goes long my stamina picks up."

He likes how feels about Michigan and what he already knows about them.

"I feel really comfortable talking with the coaches; we are getting to know each other. I like their history and tradition. Michigan ranks in the top three of good schools for academics, right there with Harvard and Yale."

Donovan at this time is running track -- trying to improve his speed and stay in shape.

"I run the 100, 200, and the 4x100. I have run a 10.6 split in the 4x100. I am just trying to continue to improve and get better."

His time table for a decision is a bit far off, but he wants to take a few visits to see what some of these colleges are like.

"I want to make my decision at the end of my senior year; I am just taking my time on that. I am trying to visit Michigan in the spring. I will be visiting Arkansas in early April and Oklahoma State on April 16."

As of right not he just wants to follow his parent's advice about recruiting. "My parents tell me to value my time and not allow anyone to influence my decision -- because I am making a big choice, to decide what college I will attend."
