It came later than expected, but Chicago Simeon offensive lineman Chris Bryant is finally a Wolverine. The use of finally is appropriate because the Windy City Star had known for months that Michigan was was his likely destination, but the coaching change in Ann Arbor gave him brief pause. However, after spending the past few weeks getting acquainted with the new Maize & Blue coaching staff it again became apparent that he was destined to don the winged helmet.
"It was definitely a last minute decision, but it was something I've been thinking about for the longest," said Bryant. "I just felt at home every time I was out there with the coaches and the players. It has great academics and I just felt like it was the place for me. I just had to go with what was best for me and my family and go to Ann Arbor."
Bryant is the Wolverine's 17th known verbal commitment and is rated a three-star prospect and the #21 OG in the country according to Scout.com.
"Bryant is a big bodied lineman who can move well for a kid his size," said Scout.com Midwest Regional Manager, Allen Trieu. "He's smart, takes to coaching quickly, and has great power and strength. When he gets his hands on someone, he usually wins. He has exceptional punch and can knock defenders off balance easily, but he still is somewhat raw with his hand placement and technique. He is also a tad top heavy, but he has a ton of raw ability and the type of aggressive, hard working attitude you want in a lineman."
