Emilien Enrolls At Toledo

One of the strangest recruiting stories in recent years has taken another twist, and former Plantation (FLA) defensive back Vlad Emilien has enrolled at Toledo. The former Michigan recruit starts classes Monday, and is ready to jump-start his career with the Rocket program.

Vlad Emilien has seen plenty of disappointment in his college football career, but it appears his luck has changed for the better, and he has enrolled at Toledo to try to revive his career.

Emilien, 6-foot-1, 205-pounds, originally attended Michigan following high school, but transferred after two seasons. He then committed to Colorado, but that dream died with the firing of head coach Dan Hawkins, and he was back looking for a school again.

"I am enrolled at Toledo on scholarship, and I am flying there today (Friday)," Emilien stated. "This is a great opportunity for me, and this coaching staff really wants me. (Head coach) Tim Beckman is a great coach, and they called me right after their bowl game and said they needed me, so I'm excited to be there."

"I will be close to my friends at Michigan too, so that's good," he continued. "I still love the Michigan program, and I was sad to hear about Coach (Rich) Rodriguez getting let go. This is a great start for me, and I'm excited about the opportunity."

For someone who has been through a lot of disappointment, Emilien has maintained a positive outlook on his situation, something he credits his mother.

"Everything works out for a reason, and I know that," he stated. "When I left Michigan, I was really needed at home, because both my mom and my sister were sick. I was abler to spend time with them, and I'm glad for that. Both of them are doing great now, so it's time for me to go and get my career back on track."

"My mom is my inspiration, and she has given me her blessing to go to Toledo and be the best player and student I can be," he continued. "I'm very pumped up about things, and my attitude is great."
